Breaking: U.S. Jobless rate hits 5-year high as the economy loses 84,000 jobs in August. Unemployment rate jumps to 6.1 percent.
Economists were expecting the jobless rate to hold at 5.7 percent with a loss of 75,000 jobs last month.
It’s the eighth-straight month of job losses.
